Early Dismissal Planned for Friday, January 12, 2024
After careful consideration and consultation with the National Weather Service and an abundance of caution, the Cherokee County School District will have an early dismissal on Friday, January 12, 2024. The latest advisory by the National Weather Service has issued another strong wind advisory. The latest forecast predicts wind gusts of up to 50 mph beginning in the afternoon.
• Primary and Elementary dismissal – 11 a.m.
• Middle school dismissal – 11:45 a.m.
• High school dismissal – 12:15 p.m.
• All afterschool activities and programs are CANCELED
The state of South Carolina mandates that school districts keep buses off the roads when sustained winds are forecasted to reach 30 mph or gusts exceed 40 mph. The next National Weather Service update will be released at 5 a.m. Friday. If any changes to their forecast should impact our schedule, we will communicate that as soon as possible.
